COSTA CUDDLE
SPONSORED INITIATIVE FOR SRI LANKA
Youngsters representing Costa Kinder Care nursery school handed over a cheque for €1,597 to the Manacare Foundation for their project in Sri Lanka. The money was raised through a sponsored “toddle” at the stupa in Benalmádena. Joy Fahey accepted the cheque on behalf of the charity's founder, Joy Butler Markham, who is now based in the south-east of the island, which suffered tremendous damage during the tsunami. Earlier she gave REM.fm listeners an update on the progress at the centre, which includes a school, medical and therapy centre as well as a vocational training centre where beach clothes and bags are being made. She explained that the cheque would be used to provide slides, swings and other playground equipment as well as class room items.
